Monuments & Markers

  • All monuments shall be set on a foundation built of concrete and of the size and depth prescribed by the Maple Knoll Cemetery Board.

General Rules & Regulations

  • The cemetery will take all reasonable precautions to protect lot owners and their property within the cemetery from loss, damage, vandalism, or injury but it shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, or injury.

  • We urge all families NOT to bring items of monetary value or sentimental family treasures to the gravesite.

  • Maple Knoll Cemetery Association (MKCA) will not assume liability for damage to monuments resulting from ordinary hazards for cemetery work. MKCA will use reasonable care to engage competent workmen. MKCA will take all reasonable precautions to protect lot owners from loss or damage. MKCA will not be responsible for loss or damage beyond reasonable control.

  • All rules and regulations are subject to change at the discretion of the Maple Knoll Cemetery Board.

  • No glass or open flames are allowed.

Flowers/Decorations/Grounds Guidelines

  • Flowers, shrubs, bushes or trees are to be planted in the cemetery at the direction and designation of the cemetery board.

  • Funeral flowers will be removed within two weeks of being placed at the grave site. Once removed, the flowers will be disposed of. If the family of the interred individual wishes to keep the flowers, they will need to inform Maple Knoll Cemetery at the time of the interment.

  • Artificial wreaths, artificial flowers, baskets, crockery, flags, ensigns, emblems, or other special markers and decorations will be permitted for special holidays.

  • Cut flowers and potted plants are permitted on grave sites. Potted plants and/or vases must be placed on foundation of head stone or on either side of head stones. Shepherd hooks and elevated pot holders are encouraged. The cemetery board and/or groundskeeper have the right to remove uncared for plants.

  • The cemetery reserves the right to remove flowers, wreaths, flags or other decorations from plots as soon as they become unsightly. The grounds will be cleared of decorations twice a year. Spring clean-up begins April 15th and fall clean-up begins October 15th. In order for the family to save any decorations placed on a grave, the decoration should be removed prior to these dates. New decorations may be placed beginning May 15th and November 15th respectively.

  • Flags may be placed on graves for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Flag Day and Veteran’s Day. Flags should be kept to 12” by 18” in size or smaller. Flags are subject to removal by cemetery within 10 days of the Holiday.

  • Items not allowed to be placed on a lot within the cemetery include the following: coping, curbing, decorative rocks, fencing, hedging, grave mounds, borders, or enclosures. No decorations of any type are permitted in trees or cemetery plantings.

  • Glass is prohibited at all times.

  • The cemetery will have the right to remove objects whose appearance and condition warrant removal and/or violate the cemetery’s rules and regulations. The cemetery will not be liable for any flower or decoration removed or lost by any cause.

  • No animals shall be allowed in the cemetery except to assist the handicapped.

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Children are not allowed to play or climb upon any markers.
